Brian Bouffard is a civilian trial defense counsel in military matters worldwide and civilian criminal cases throughout Texas, with the Law Office of Patrick J. McLain, PLLC. He is a former lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy JAG Corps and former GS-15 lead defense counsel in the Guantanamo Bay case of U.S. v. Mohammed Nazir Bin Lep, which resulted in his client's release from two decades of confinement without trial, and repatriation to his home country of Malaysia. Brian earned his undergraduate degree from Texas Christian University in 1992, his law degree with honors from Duke University School of Law in 1997, and his masters degree (LL.M.) in trial advocacy with honors from Temple University in 2024. Brian is also a faculty member in the Trial Lawyers College and is passionate about helping other advocates who represent individuals against governmental and corporate interests.
